Last updated October 18, 2026. A plain-language summary of how buying, renewing and cancelling Hello Housebook works. These terms are a draft and will be reviewed by a lawyer.
What you're paying for
- Setup (one time): $99 do it yourself, or $349 for an in-home setup. Each additional home or unit is half price.
- Yearly service: $150 a year per home or unit, charged at signup and then once a year. It covers reminders, Ask Housebook, storage of your records and documents, and updates.
- Rentals with 3 or more units: bulk yearly rates ($120 per unit for 3–9 units, $100 for 10–24, a quote for 25+), with the year paid up front.
Renewal
Your yearly service renews automatically on the same date each year, charged to the card you signed up with. We email you about 30 days before each renewal with the amount and how to cancel. If prices change, we tell you at least 30 days before the renewal they apply to.
Refunds
- The yearly fee: a full refund if you cancel within 30 days of signing up. After that, the year runs to its end and there are no partial refunds.
- The setup fee isn't refundable once the setup work has started, because the work is done for your home.
- Rentals: removing units during the year lowers the next renewal, not the current year.
Cancelling
To cancel, email info@hellohousebook.com (a cancel button in your account is coming). You won't be charged again. Your Housebook keeps working until the end of the year you've paid for.
When it ends
- Before it ends, download your House Book: a complete copy of your home's records, yours to keep.
- When the paid year ends, your Housebook is switched off and the QR plates in the house show that the link isn't active. Nothing is deleted yet.
- We keep it switched off for 90 days in case you change your mind, then delete it for good.
- Selling the house? The records and plates can be handed to the new owner instead.
Your account
- You can share your password with family or anyone who helps with the house. Anyone with it can see and change your home's records.
- If you forget your password, we send a new welcome link.
Advice and emergencies
Ask Housebook answers from your home's records and manuals, and it can be wrong. It's information, not professional advice: check anything important with a licensed professional. In an emergency, call 911 first. The emergency steps come from your home's setup and don't replace emergency services.
